Yamillet Escamilla Biography
-
Hi, I am Yamillet Escamilla. I am an undergraduate student at the University of Oklahoma majoring in biology. I am from Durango, Mexico but came to the United States of America when I was four. I’ve grown up around animals my entire life, which is where my love for them initiated. I decided to take Dr. Siler’s herpetology course in the spring of 2023 because I was really interested in herps since I was little, but after taking his course it only sparked my interest and love for creatures even more.
Through my volunteer work I hope to get an understanding about the behind the scenes of managing a collection and the steps of processing animals. One of my goals is to do a lot more fieldwork in the future and better understand the relationship between an animal and their environment. After graduation I would love to work in wildlife conservation in some capacity.
