Shelby McMillin Biography

Shelby is a junior at the University of Oklahoma with a major in Biology, a focus on Pre-Med, and a minor in French. She is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her interest in biology began in sixth grade with a phenomenal science teacher and was fostered along the way with a passionate biology teacher in high school, followed by professors at OU like Dr. Siler who continued to cultivate her love of learning about living organisms and the world around us. Upon graduation from the University of Oklahoma in 2017, Shelby hopes to attend OU’s College of Medicine in order to pursue a career in Pediatric Oncology. She became involved in the Siler Lab through the Honors College research program and looks forward to continuing her time at the lab through her senior year.
Additionally, Shelby enjoys getting involved on campus through various organizations like Soonerthon, OU Campus Activity Council’s official philanthropy benefitting the Children’s Miracle Network, as well as off campus, volunteering in different departments at Norman Regional Hospital.
