Marie Labonte is a freshman undergraduate student at the University of Oklahoma. She is from Mont Belvieu, Texas. Marie is majoring in biology and plans to pursue a career in research after graduate school. She is particularly interested in evolution and genetics, and is very excited to further her learning about them while volunteering in the lab.

Marie became interested in a career in research after attending several lectures by researchers at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She decided on biology after taking AP Biology her senior year of high school and spending a semester studying genetics for Academic Decathlon. Marie joined the lab as a part of the Honors FYRE (First Year Research Experience) program and is looking forward to gaining knowledge and experience from her time.
